The Thing and other things

This afternoon, I am doing a presentation on feminist issues in John Carpenter's The Thing. It's a great presentation and I might put the PowerPoint version up here for your enjoyment. If I get someone to record it, I'll let you have that, too.

That is just one of the many irons I have in the fire right now. Next weekend, I will be at Crypticon Seattle as a panelist and interviewer. I've previously mention that I will be on a panel discussing the difference between reality and fiction in regards to some of our favorite "based on a true story" films. That's at 6 p.m. Friday, May 23. On Sunday, May 25, I will be doing an interview panel with Jennifer Lynn Warren (American Horror Story) and Nat Quarry (Zombie Cage Fighter). I promise a good time for that hour.

The highlight of the weekend will be the one-on-one interview session with Jeffrey Combs at noon on Saturday, May 24. Seriously, you all should be there for that. It's going to be amazing. (Am I getting nervous? Would I tell you if I was?)

Watch our Facebook page and Twitter for updates from the convention.

Lastly, in another bit of shameless self-promotion, I have another short story soon to be published. Check out the cover for Despumation here. If you are into heavy metal, you will love this publication. I don't have an exact release date yet, but when I do, you'll hear about it.
