The last two Ethan Hawke-starring horror/sci-fi movies I saw were better than I expected them to be. Sinister was the creepiest movie I'd seen in a while and Daybreakers is a great and unique vampire flick. So when he's not doing a Before/After Sunset/Midnight movie, Hawke gets involve din above average genre fare.
Today, his latest, The Purge, opens nationwide.
What is the purge? Well, according to the synopsis, "In 2022 the United States has become 'a nation reborn', with crime and
unemployment rates hitting an all-time low. To keep these rates low, the
government has instated an annual 12-hour time period called 'The
Purge,' during which people can vent their negative emotions because
almost all crime (including murder) is legal and emergency services are
Classic sci-fi/horror set-up, right? Let's see if he Hawke and co-star Lena Headey (300, Dredd, Game of Thrones) can survive.
