The Night Flier: best vampire image ever

"It was the sound of a man voiding into a urinal.
"But although he could see all three of the bathroom's urinals in the vomit-splattered mirror, he could see no one at any of them."

That is from Stephen King's "The Night Flier." The short story is part of the "Nightmares & Dreamscapes" collection and was filmed in 1997 with Miguel Ferrer as tabloid journalist Rick Dees.

As far as vampire imagery goes, this is one of the best. Sure, we all know that vampires do not cast reflections in mirrors. That can be hard to show in print and on film without being cliche. King found a great way to not show his vampire and the filmmakers took that cue and turned in a brilliant effect.

The movie didn't get the exposure it might get now. It was released in the middle of the meta-horror ("Scream") craze and preceded the torture porn era ushered in by "Saw" and "Hostel." It's more like a really long and R-rated episode of "Tales From the Crypt." If you are into vampires, you should check it out.
